Adam Chambers was born and raised in Midland and currently lives there with his wife Jane and their two children, Davie and Cooper.
Adam attended St. Theresa’s High School in Midland before going to Western University to complete law and MBA degrees.
Previously, Adam worked as a senior advisor to Canada’s Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty, as Canada successfully navigated the global recession and financial crisis. Most recently, Adam served as Assistant Vice President at one of Canada’s largest life insurance companies. Adam is also an entrepreneur, founding an online education platform to assist college and university students with licensing exams. To date, they have served over 13,000 students.
Adam has been an active volunteer in the community having served as a member of the Board of Directors for Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care in Penetanguishene from 2015 to 2021. Adam was also a founding board member of Building Up, a non-profit whose mission is to create employment opportunities in the skilled trades for at-risk youth.
2021
Adam was elected as the Member of Parliament for Simcoe North in the 2021 federal election, and was officially was sworn in on September 20, 2021. During his first year as an MP, he became a member on the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance.
2022
In June of 2022, Adam introduced his Private Members Bill C-289 - An Act to amend the Criminal Code (identity verification). This bill would amend the Criminal Code to make it an offence for any person to knowingly make a false or misleading statement or to knowingly provide false or misleading information, including by omission, to a person or entity listed in section 5 of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act with respect to the verification of the identity of a person or entity under that Act.
Unfortunately, this bill was struck down on second reading, but MP Chambers continues to be an advocate against the increasing issue of money laundering and terrorist financing in Canada.
2023
In 2023, Adam became the co-chair of the Parliamentary Friends of a Democratic Burma alongside MP Garnett Genuis. The previous friendship group was chaired by Adam's predecessor, MP Bruce Stanton. Since Burma experienced a military coup in 2021, the Parliamentary Friends of a Democratic Burma was created to advocate for the reinstatement of democracy in the country and to discuss what actions Canadian parliamentarians and government can take to help. Members representing civil society organizations, ethnic groups, academics and other individuals have been integral sources of information and advocacy. Today, MPs from all parties are members of this group and meet with advocates on a regular basis.
2024
In 2024, Adam has continued his work in the House of Commons and on the Standing Committee on Finance. On June 19, 2024, Adam introduced Bill S-258 An Act to amend the Canada Revenue Agency Act (reporting on unpaid income tax) in the House of Commons. This bill from Senator Percy Downe would require the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to list all convictions for tax evasion, including international tax evasion, in the annual report it submits to the Minister of National Revenue. It also requires the Agency to include statistics on the tax gap in the annual report every three years. This bill creates more trasnaprency from the CRA on international and domestic tax evasion, and requires reporting to keep this information up-to-date.
